One of Thailand’s less known tourist attractions, Krabi is a spectacular region on the west coast of southern Thailand by the Andaman Sea. Renowned for its spectacular natural attractions, Krabi features eight separate districts, including Amphoe Muang or Krabi Town as well as Khao Panom, Plai Phraya, Khlong Thom, Ko Lanta, Lam Thap, Nhua Khlong and Ao Luk. Offering a fantastic range of stylish accommodation options, this best kept secret is fast becoming a popular and affordable tourist hub.
Surrounded by rocky outcrops and limestone caves, Krabi is the ideal destination for taking in the gorgeous Thailand scenery. Boasting thick jungle vegetation and a range of national parks, Krabi is also home to a number of cultural sites such as Buddhist temples and shrines.
With much of the Krabi Province deemed National Parks, there are a number of stunning natural attractions to visit including Hat Noppharat Thara, Railay, Ko Phi Phi National Park and Ao Nang. However the region also offers easy access to more than 80 smaller islands including Lanta Islands, Koh Lanta and the famous Phi Phi Islands.
Krabi’s smaller regions are accommodating and packed full of things to see and do. Ko Lanta National Park features a number of coral-fringed islands and spectacular diving sites. Ko Lanta Yai, is Krabi’s largest island and is home to ‘Chao Le, or sea gypsies who reside in limestone caves and live off the land. Alternatively, Khao Phanom Bencha and Than Bokk-horani are the mainland National Parks and offer a number of spectacular scenic attractions such as waterfalls and caves and are ideal for trekking and eco tours.
